Clumps do not fall into the tray
CommonYou roll the box but clumps stay in the litter bed instead of dropping through the grate.
Likely causes
- Litter is not clumping hard enough — cheap clay breaks up on the roll.
- The bed is too shallow, so urine reaches the plastic and smears.
- The box was not rolled fully onto its side.
Fix it, in this order
- Use a firm-clumping clay. This design depends entirely on clumps holding together. Budget litter is a false economy here.
- Deepen the bed. Three inches minimum. Shallow beds are the usual cause.
- Roll it all the way. Roll until the box is fully on its side and hold for two seconds before rolling back.
When to stop and get help: There is no mechanism to fail here — if clumps still will not drop, the litter is the variable to change.
